It didn’t show on his face, but Bertholdt had trouble sleeping at night. Ever since becoming trainees, the tall man didn’t quite knew how to act when they were all gathered in their sleeping quarters, at their most vulnerable while resting their body and mind. Being a bit of a worrywart, Bertholdt spent hours reliving today’s conversations and activities. Was there anything he did wrong? Anything he had almost forgotten? Bertholdt was snapped out of his thoughts when the male behind him shifted on the bed. Straining his ears, he could tell by Reiner’s breathing that the man wasn’t fully asleep yet. Yes, he had forgotten that he wasn’t alone, never. Reiner, whose back pressed firmly against his as if making an obvious point, was always there for him to confide in. Bertholdt tilted his head back until it rested against Reiner’s and he smiled gratefully into the darkness. It was both silly and a bit adorable how Reiner muttered with a drowsy voice: “I got your back. Now sleep.”
