The Dexton twins were the most popular students in Yorkshire High, everyone knew that. They were also aware of the fact that the twins were the heirs of a large conglomerate, mostly shopping malls scattered all over the cities.
Hanna Dexton was the booksmart. She was diligent, always focusing on her studies and her grades mattered the most. She was delicate, like a rose and very ladylike unlike most of the girls in Yorkshire High. She was soft spoken yet she had the air of confidence around her which most people lack. Her brunette tresses were often tucked behind her ear. She was a beauty with the pretty grey eyes she had, long lashes, and a dazzling smile. A natural beauty. And of course, she was well liked by her friends and teachers. She seemed like a good girl but she had a dirty secret no one knows. It'll be the least expected from a good girl like her.
Hansel Dexton was the cocky twin, an athletic sportsperson. One might call him a jock but he prefers the latter because 'jocks are bastards'. Despite being active in sports like track field and football, Hansel's grades were on par with his twin. He was loud and confident, often speaking his mind out unlike Hanna. And that made people fear him a little. But still, he was well liked, and definitely popular around girls for being so godly looking. He was brunette just like Hanna and has hazel brown irises unlike her, the only physical difference apart from the obvious difference in their genders. But other than that, he too has a dazzling smile which melts hearts of many. Just because of his charming demeanour, they overlook his dirty secret.
The only thing that separates the twins entirely from everyone else was that they were in their own world, their own 'clique'. The Dexton twins only hung out with each other despite having many friends of their own. They would sit at a secluded corner in the cafeteria away from the buzz and lively atmosphere of the cafeteria, Hansel ditching his teammates from trackfield while Hanna ditched her friends from Chemistry club. The school population would ignore the twins most of the times during lunch or whenever they were together. No one suspects a thing.
"I often have a feeling that there's something up with the Dexton twins," Tenessee leant in and whispered. Her attention was on the twins few tables away. "What do you think, new student?" She turned around to look at the blonde in front of her.
He swallowed his food before clearing throat. "I think you should eat those fries before I steal them away from you," he joked, pointing at her untouched food.
"Oh shut up Xander. We know you totally have a tremendous crush on Hanna Dexton ever since you moved here," Tenessee teased him with a sly smile curling on the edge of her lips. Laughter erupted from the table. Jess, Amber, Mike, Lucas and Tenessee were laughing at him. Xander squirmed uncomfortably at the unwanted attention he received.
"I n-never mentioned that before. W-where did you get that irrelevent information from?" he stammered. Xander metally cursed at himself for stuttering. He hadn't intended for his voice to sound so shaky and unsure.
Lucas huddled closer with a knowing look on his face. "Come on, you're so obvious. I often catch you mooning over her in Chemistry class."
"I didn't," Xander denied in a horrible attempt.
"Well, crush or not, you better be careful of Hansel. He's pretty overprotective when it comes to Hanna. I've seen him punching the guts out of a guy who confessed to Hanna in front of him," Amber warned him lazily.
"I really didn't need that," Xander sighed, muttering under his breath. "Definitely didn't."
"Come on loverboy, let's get to class," Mike hauled him up and get his tray to the return counter, before the group hoarded out of the cafeteria.
Xander took on last look at Hanna and he swore she looked right back at him with a small smile on her face. His heart was hammering against his chest, and he felt flushed.
"Blushing, loverboy? Seriously?" Jess nudged him as they walked to their next class, AP Calculus. Xander shrugged his shoulders, still feeling flustered. "Well, I could definitely use some blackmailing material to use against the Dexton twins," she blabbered on in a soft voice only Xander could hear.
Xander remained silent, choosing not to reply her.
As they entered the class, Jess whispered into his ear. "At least, your having AP Calculus with the other twin."
Xander tried his best to remain calm in that situation. He was a new student. And he was the next target if he ever got on Hansel Dexton's bad side. He needed some camouflage fast. Class was almost starting when the hazel eyed twin sauntered into the class looking so handsome, like a model. Xander swore he heard sighs coming from all the girls in class including Jess. The guy walked right up to him and stood there with a look on his face.
"That's my seat, new kid," He offered him a gorgeous smile which made Xander feel insecure. Before he could rise from the seat and find another one, Hansel put a hand on his shoulder and shook his head. "It's okay. I'll just grab another seat today. Just remember though," he smiled good naturedly and walked to the back of the class.
Did Hansel Dexton just talked to him politely? Xander groaned. It was definitely difficult to hate on Hansel from then onwards. He was unlike all the other jocks who were so arrogant although Hansel has that cocky yet charming aura about him. The interaction he had with Hansel proved that he wasn't able to hate in him just like that. And so Xander had no choice but to tolerate him.
