Description:
Life hadn't always been like this, she didn't have to wear long sleeves and plaster makeup on her face just to go out shopping, nor did she spend more days out of the year curled up in a ball drinking herself into a stupor just to dull the pain than she did hiding behind a forced smile just so she could reassure people that she was fine only to go right back into her addiction.
She remembered – vaguely – hanging out with her friends and having a blast just living life to the fullest, not having to spend every waking moment worried over if she'd possibly done something to anger him again. But it all felt like a hazy dream being drowned in an endless ocean of despair.
She knew living like this wasn't living at all, she knew she should make a stand and move on with her life to better herself. But how could she when she'd already gone past the point of no return? How could she drag herself out of the hole she called a home and leave everything behind if he'd only end up finding her sooner or later?
But when all seems lost, hope springs forth in the form of a best friend she'd thought long gone reappearing and making it her goal to save young Ren from the cruel hand she'd been dealt by fate, and she didn't come alone.
Foreword
Alycia Lytton Smith, 23.
The blast from the past.
“Why? 'Cause you're the sister I never had and the only person besides myself and Gav that I give even remotely two shits about. Now shut ya trap and snap the fuck out of it, I want Ren back and I want her back right fuckin' now”
Farren 'Ren' Morigann O'Shea, 21.
The addictive Heroine.
“It's not like I woke up one day and decided I felt like getting punched in the face, I fight back when he starts his shit. I just know it's useless and the only way to dull the pain is to chug down half a pint of JD”
Tommy Reddington, 24.
The useless bastard.
“You belong to me, you're my property and I can do whatever the fuck I please with you. Don't you dare think you can run away from this because you're mine and I will find you no matter where you hide just to drag you right back to the shithole you belong in”
Royce Miller, 44.
The Father-figure.
“I still remember her playing dress up with my suits, the jackets draging on the floor behind her as she stumbled around talking in a mock accent of mine. She'll always be that innocent little girl in my eyes”
Greyson Farley, 21.
The hopeless pervert.
“I have no idea what the fuck is going on here, but I swear that I have never seen a blunt that big and it has made my life fucking awesome”
Edward 'Junior' Chan II, 22.
The wanna-be tsundere badass.
“What makes you think I'll help you? I don't even know you, now go away be-Oh my god, please let go of my balls!”
Geneva 'Gen' Shin, 23.
The light at the end of the tunnel.
“Being kind is part of my nature, but so is breaking into your house and planting a homemade bomb in your mattress if you so much as look at her wrong”
Lacy Nolan, 28.
The sassy chain smoker with the midas touch.
“Don't forget: I'm the one with the license to give you morphine or a prescription for Vitamin D”
Freddy Wiggins, 19.
The sports nerd.
“I'm not obsessed with sports, I just enjoy them. Now, your sister on the other hand...”
Gavin Alec Smith, 20.
The responsible sibling.
“With her back in town, chances are – We'll be in jail before dinner and someone will be in drag. Somone is always in drag”
Rory Trent, 25.
The sweet protector.
“I fell for you the moment I made you smile with that corny joke, I've tried to make it my goal to protect you but no matter how hard I try, I only end up making it worse and I hate myself for it”
Sid Webber. 23.
The angry rebel.
“If it makes you feel any better, I set him on fire when we were little and locked him in the dryer for three hours”
Isaiah Corbin, 32.
The first love and last chance.
“Clearly you're still too young and niave if you think you deserve to be treated like shit, you're not woman enough to stand up and fight let alone walk straight. You disgust me, come talk to me when you've grown up”
Sterling Parrish, 27.
The cocky but compassionate friend.
“You're my ideal type; Broken, vulnerable, and using all your strength to keep your chin up even when you feel like screaming your lungs raw.”

Forewords:
Lying on the floor with broken glass scattered about and the lamp tossed on its side flickering, she opened her eyes and blinked away the blurriness. “What was it this time?” she asked herself, the pain in the back of her head throbbing and the familiar sting of tiny cuts covering her body.
Against her body's will she began to sit up, groaning at how badly she ached. “Looks like the place is trashed...Again” a heavy sigh slipped from busted lips as she took in the scenery of her once neat living room.
Bracing herself for the blood rush she was going to get when she stood, she clenched her teeth and finally rose to her feet. The throbbing in her head intensified so badly she started to see black spots in her vision and had to grip the back of the couch for support lest she slip back into unconsciousness.
“Where's my cigarette's?” she patted the remnants of her silk bathrobe in an attempt to find them in the tattered mess only to come up empty handed and annoyed. Spitting out curses, she started fumbling towards the kitchen.
Cringing at the pain from stepping on the shards of glass and trying to concentrate on not falling, she crossed the short distance to the open kitchen and instantly zeroed in on the tiny pack of cancer sticks sitting next to the sink completely undisturbed by the destruction otherwise known as her apartment.
Stopping mid-way through the kitchen distracted by her reflection in the window, she held her hand up to brush her fiery red mane behind her ear so she could study the purple and blue bruises scattered over her face and marring her pale complexion.
Cold, empty moss eyes stared back at her in shame and regret. The person she once was had disappeared long ago just like her friends and family had, and she only had herself to blame for that. Well, at least she thought of it that way. Her friends and family had pointed fingers at the man she'd left them all for in hopes of making her change her mind. “Clearly that had gone well”
Disgusted with the sight of herself already, she snatched her cigarettes off the counter along with a half empty bottle of Jack Daniels and slid to the ground to drown out the nagging voice of her conscious and destroy what was left of her soul.
