⌬ ❝Jealous❞

I watched her sleep, I always did.
But, my eyes always traveled to that one thing..
The thing that stood in my way.
The thing no one ever dared to touch.
Had I grown jealous?
Of course I had.
Jealous of a stuffed bear.

It was pathetic, yes,
but true.

Why was I jealous?
It's obvious.

She loved Ruana.
She tolerated me.

In her mind, the bear is what kept her safe,
that's what kept her from letting go.

That's what kept her from letting me in.

It made my job harder-
Of course, I could just /take/ the bear from her,
but I don't have the heart to do that-
especially for my own selfishness.

"It's slightly creepy how you stare at me while I sleep"

That voice cut through my thoughts.

She hadn't moved, her eyes still closed- how did she know?

"I can feel your eyes on me. You watch me every night"

My cheeks heated up, looking away from her direction,
"F..Forgive me."

I saw her form shift, and she rose to crawl across the bed,
gesturing my over.

I was hesitant, but went along, sitting on the bed.

She pulled me to lay down, curling up to my side,
"I am not stupid, Koichi..Your eyes burn with jealousy.."
I faltered,
Maybe she knew than what she let on.
