"I saw the manner of death by greed. There is no confusion in these eyes." -DOGMA
Foreword
"I want to try some of that tea I hear people speak so highly about." A boy stated from his place on a bench as he sat and watched with disinterest to the scenery playing on around him.
This child looked to be of about fifteen in physical appearance, but his eyes distinctly told you otherwise. The emotions he harbored deep within those dark vast pools were harsh and shrewd like he understood all too well the reality of society and all its shortcomings. His scrutiny ripping down your every wall of resistance, destroying your each and every stronghold in a matter of seconds only to thrust in your face that you are not as strong as you once believed you were. His stare seemed to instinctively zero in on your deepest kept secrets and unveil them to you, reminding that you "should keep your distance if you know what is best."
He shifted his right leg over his left slowly, as if to show his dominance, before darting his stoic gaze up to a tall man standing at attention next to him. "Go purchase it now," he demanded, exuding total authority, though still maintaining his dainty appearance.
The man was young yet very poised. His face held no mar to distinguish any kind of upbringing to hint his reason for this choice of life. As impeccable as his anatomy was, his expressions proclaimed the full taint of his situation. His lips were naturally upturned, but you couldn't help feeling on edge, almost like he was calculating your each and every move before you even made them. Though the eyes were his most unnerving feature about him. Vibrant, striking, strong, piercing, harsh, vivid, keen, vicious. All of those words and more. His cerise oculi held so much promise to things you could never even begin to fathom, nor would you want to. To have his eyes be bestowed upon you, by instinct you knew you lost this petty little game of chess, and to pay the consequences was akin to selling your soul to a Devil.
The boy's line of sight shifted in front of him again when young children were running in close proximity, closer than he comfortably preferred. Further away from the small group of kids playing tag was a massive swarm of snotty, bratty, loud obnoxious lot of them hanging off, climbing in and out of, and just plain making a ruckus on and around a jungle gym. Lining the perimeter of the playground were benches where the adults littered upon. Some benched adults had small clusters of smaller children consuming snacks or drooling buckets as they napped. Surveying his surroundings again, the boy caught some of the women glancing over at him and his guardian with mild intrigue as they gossiped amongst themselves. Feeling irked by the their actions and lack of acknowledgment to his request, the boy whipped his harsh glare up at his companion.
The young man was gazing down at the boy silently, almost like he was admiring the way the sun exhibited a play of lustrous changing colors as his hair fluttered when the breeze combed softly through the strands. The gentle breeze coaxed a stray cloud to cover the sun for a very brief moment of shade. Waiting for the sun to peek out again from the slow moving cloud, the boy's company pondered which blend the he would like. As the cloud passed, the breeze calmed and the boy's hairs settled, the young man bowed slightly and said with a rich, silken voice "Yes, my lord."

The moon was full and high with some wispy billows bestrewed in the heavens when a young woman staggered out from an unlit alleyway. Her clothes were in a state of indecorous display as well as her hair and make-up. She herself seemed to be in a more ill-mannered state than her appearance divulged.
Heaving a shaky sigh, the woman leaned heavily against one of the buildings, taking a crushed box of cigarettes out from her small handbag. Tapping one of them out of the pack, she placed it ungracefully between her dehydrated chapped lips and sucked the filter to get a taste of the nicotine in high hopes to tide herself over as she searched for her light. Hoisting the bag closer to her face, she rummaged almost frantically for the lighter. Successfully finding the item, she slid the bag down her forearm, lifting both hands to her face, one cupping the tip of the cigarette while the other flicked the lighter to life. It took a half a dozen tries before she placed the dancing flame directly in front of her tobacco fix. She let it burn for a few seconds before inhaling the toxic smoke deeply, filling her lungs to full capacity before slowly exhaling. The female slid her eyes closed as she took another drag, basking in the sedative side effects.
The nightlife was at its prime when the young woman felt fit enough to move on to her next destination. As she was stepping her finished cigarette out she caught a glimpse of a possible companion. Quickly straightening her posture, she combed her fingers through her knotty hair then wiped under her eyes before smoothing some wrinkles out of her clothes. Deeming herself presentable she started her way over in his direction, swinging her hips enticingly with every step she made.
Up in the navy blue sky the stars twinkled, winking down at the humans' trying attempt to live a full-bodied and vibrant life.
