"Knock." Sarah whispered softly under her breath. Vivian could hardly hear her over the ambient thud of the rabid's fist agaist the interior car door. The beige sedan rocked softly with each impact and kept both girl's on high alert as they approached the large, thick wooden doors of the abandoned church. Would there be any supplies ? Or simply a flood of the dead who had come to find the comfort of faith in their final hour?
Vivian did as told, rapping her knuckled against the wood softly and bracing herself for whatever response would follow. Sarah hung back, keeping her eyes on their rear in the event that their knocking would entice any passerbys to come looking. When the silence from inside conitnued, Vivian knocked again, this time with more gusto. Nothing. Thirty seconds passed. Then a minute. Then two. nothing. The grils shared a cautious glance before Sarah nodded, giving Vivian the go-ahead. The red-head wrapped her fingers around the cathedral handle and gave it a firm push. At first, it seemed locked, no amount of force being able to pry the wood from its latch, however it became abundantly clear Vivian had overlooked something important. "Pull." She read, with incredulous mockery of her own stupidity. She gave the door a mighty pull and with little resistance, the door swung. Both froze, the loud creak making Sarah cringe where she stood.
