The awkward silence between them was excruciating. Natalie was looking outside the window without bothering to look at Chad. She was guilty of what they did last night, and she wished she could turn back the time. How can she do that to her own sister? Jessica was her only family now since their mother died and their father left them. How can she betrayed her own sister?
She closed her eyes tightly as she gulped the lump that was forming inside her throat. I'm so stupid! Dammit!
"So you'll just gonna keep silent and never talk to me?" Chad broke the silence that both engulfed them. When she didn't say a word, Chad cursed at the wind. "Dammit Natalie! You're acting like it's all my fault!" He barked as he struck hard the steering wheel with his palms.
She whipped her head angrily at him. "And what do you want me to do?! Smile at you like nothing happened?!"
"So you put the blame on me." He said the words in between gritted teeth. When she didn't spoke, he scoffed. "I'll take your silence as a yes."
"We're just both stupid for giving in with our lust." She muttered, looking at the window. "Let's just forget about it, Chad." When he didn't say anything, she shut her mouth. All through the ride, she was not looking at him. She kept her gaze outside the window. A minute of silence seemed like an eternity for her. She was not like this before. She was never awkward whenever she was around with him. He treated her as his sister just like she treated him like a brother, but it was different now. All because of just one stupid night, everything has to change between them. She sighed as she closed her eyes. She really wished last night never really happened, that it was all a dream.
After a couple of minutes of closing her eyes, she opened them and realized they were already in Seoul. He stopped the car right on the gate and moved out but she didn't wait for him to open the door for her. He looked at her and unintentionally, her eyes met his. "I can walk by myself.." She said.
"Don't be stubborn." He retorted as he held her arm.
"I'm not being stubborn!" She snapped as she swept his hands roughly away off of her and started to walk away. But before she could take one step, he grabbed her arm and whirled her around. "Ouch!" She yelped as she felt the pain again in the middle of her thigh because of what he did.
"Chad!" It was Jessica. That's when Chad let go of her arm. "I miss you!" Jessica exclaimed as she flung herself to him and wrapped her arms around him.
Chad on the other hand was shock at what Jessica did. As far as he can remember, they were having a misunderstanding before he and Natalie left yesterday. Jessica gave him a a soft kiss on the lips, but his eyes were on hers.
Hell! He's kissing my sister and yet he's looking at me! She fumed inwardly. She turned her head away from the couple and started walking away.
"Hey Nat, what happened? Why are you limping?" Jessica asked and she held her breath for a second. The guilt came rushing deep within her again. Worst, she had to lie. "Are you okay?"
"Uh, yeah.." She said as she turned back her head to them. "I just slipped in the shower.. t..that's all. Don't worry I..I'm okay."
"Aww, be careful next time okay? Meanwhile, just stay in your room. Don't do any chores, let me do it all, 'kay?"
She couldn't do anything but to give her sister a nod. Then she started walking inside the house. She didn't even heard what they were talking. All she wanted to do was to lock herself in her room and cry her eyes out. And that's what she really did. The moment she stepped inside her room, she let her tears fall from her eyes, the tears that she's been keeping since she was in the car.
