Among the saddest things I stumble upon http://forum.jak-zabezpieczyc-dom.com.pl in my work is somebody who has lived in a dysfunctional marriage long enough that they have halted believing they deserve to be happy - or perhaps more accurately, that they deserve to go after happiness. For a person who doesn't believe they deserve to be happy, it's unlikely that they ever will be significantly happy for any sustained period of time. Might find a way to sabotage themselves either intentionally or unconsciously when they commence to feel happy or good.
