One day, the girl got into an accident.

And one by one, everyone left her.

The girl was left sad and lonely and miserable, and every day when she lies down on her bed the only words she thinks about are “It’s quiet”

For her, the silence is deafening and the world is too caught up to care.

Foreword

The moment I step out the door everything hits me in the face.

It's November and chilly. I wrap my jacket even tighter around myself before I walk onto the streets.

A man on his cellphone walks past me with a frown. Up ahead, a young lady rushes across while the pedestrian crossing light is still red and the driver in the sleek black Mercedes jams his brakes, but not before pounding his hand harshly onto the horn. I accidentally walk into an office worker and my papers go flying everywhere. He is kind enough to help me pick all of them up even thought the once crisp papers now have shoe prints on them. His mouth opens.

I don't hear what he says.

I don't hear the horn of the Mercedes.

I don't hear the man talking about a $100, 000 business deal.

All I hear are my thoughts that are lost in the maze known as loneliness, and I don't know how to get out.
