Chapter 16

A few days later I gather up the courage to confront Cline. I find him sitting on a bench in the school courtyard listening to music. I stand right in front of him to get his full attention. "Okay, just tell me the truth!" I take a deep breath, "Are you also in the Love Game?"  Cline takes out his earphones, his green eyes piercing me. He gives me a mischevious smirk, "What do you think? Am I playing in the Love Game?" I glare at him, "I don't have time for games Cline, just tell me the truth." He stands up, forcing me to take a step back. He looks down at me, his long lashes partly hiding his green eyes. Then he leans foward, whispering into my ears, "Do you want me to be in the Love Game?" A blush immediately heats up my cheeks. I push him back, trying to keep my composure, "If you're not gonna answer me, then I won't talk to you!" I turn around and stalk off.

I sigh in fustration as I stare down at the newest letter sent by the Heartbreaker:

Dear Contestant, 

Your soulmate is near, but how close is he?

Time is ticking.

Oust the fakes or you risk losing

...........

This time round, the Heartbreaker's message was different. It was formal the last time, but now....it was if the Heartbreaker was playing with me. Time is ticking, oust the fakes or you risk losing....what did that mean? This is the first time I have ever heard of this game rule. I thought the Love Game was simply to help me find the right guy for me. The Heartbreaker doesn't even specify what I will lose, but somehow I get the feeling that the Heartbreaker isn't lying.
