On the train, Amethy thought back to her dream. It had begun in darkness until a fleck of light appeared. Looking closer, she recognised the fleck of light as a purple butterfly. It danced gracefully around her leaving a trail of light. Gradually, Amethy was able to fully see her surroundings. She stood at the centre of a stone walled garden. In front of her was a wooden door reinforced with thick vines of ivy. In the each corner of the garden were four trees. One red, another blue, the third silver and the last black. Voices sang as the wind blew, whirling a mild storm of coloured leaves around her. She looked down to shield her eyes. Below her, a large emblem was engraved in the stone slabs. It blazed gold and the dream was over.
The train jerked slightly as it came to a halt a few stops before school. A boy approached the seat opposite Amethy. He had marigold eyes and dark, orange hair streaked with black that peaked out of his navy blue hoodie. His face was feminine and could have been mistaken for a girl's if his t shirt hadn't read 'I'm a guy not a girl' in large, red print. Amethy didn't realise she was staring until he tilted his head to the side, looking back.
Again, the train jerked as it came to the main stop for students who attended Casujess High. The sudden movement caused the boy to dramatically lose balance and fall onto the seat beside him. Simultaneously, something shiny fell from his pocket. He looked up momentarily at Amethy and dived straight for the object at a speed unseen to man. Amethy's eyes widened. A silver dagger.
Filing into the carriages, students launched themselves at empty seats before someone else did the same. Amethy's view was obscured and she struggled to see the seat opposite her. Eventually, she could see straight ahead. He was gone.
A group of plastic looking girls strutted towards her, skirts barely covering their thighs. "What the hell are you wearing?" Corina smirked, her minions laughing behind her. "Did a cat ambush you?"
"Something like that," Amethy whispered, still staring in the direction of the seat.
