Prologue

It had all been fun and games until that moment.

That moment when it fell out of their control. That moment when Sora could feel the flames engulfing his body and dehydrating him of life. That moment when everything seemed to slip away from him. That moment when his friends kept running, only to realise that he wasn’t following them.

Sora left that world with a smile as the seaside shack fell atop him. A smile and a promise:

“One day we’ll all be together again. I promise.”

But that was a promise that Sora would never be able to fulfil. Not in that life, and not with those people or in that place.

Because people never stay the same; fate has a way to string the pieces together again.
