The Black Rose
Its hidden owner.
I came into an elite restaurant that Saturday night. dressed elegantly. Why? Even I do not know.
I received an envelope not too long ago, inviting me to dinner; and inside that envelope contained a single black rose petal. The letter wrote that they knew me.
They wanted to meet me and see how I was doing.
They told me to dress all in black, just like the petal's color inside the envelope... and so I did.
Just who 'they' the letter referred to, I do not know, which confused me even more. Am I meeting just one person, or will there be more? It was not clear to me.
I waited for an hour - two hours - with just a few more ticks of my watch. It was intimidating to wait, especially with the eerie aura the restaurant gave.
Wait, it was not intimidating.
It was chilling... down to the very core of my bones.Even a slight howl made by the passing winds on the other side of the window surprised me. It was as if the winds were telling me that there will be no turning back.
Yes, it was chilling.
Then, a waiter donned with a straight face came, lifting a black platter with a glossy cover. He placed the platter just in front of me, serving delicately as if it was the most expensive food that they had. Without a word, he opened the cover and left. Once again, I felt that sudden chill.
I wanted to leave.
I stared at the black-wrapped box that was served a few seconds ago, and glued on top of it was another black envelope. I opened the envelope and read what was written:
They are here.
Three words. It just took those three words to scare me even more. I grew even more reluctant to open the box, but then again, I was curious.
I slowly unwrapped the box and once I lifted the lid, I screamed. I threw the box to the other side of the room and started to run outside as fast as I could because what I saw... was horrifying.
Limbs, fingers, internal organs, and even a beating heart was in it.
It was sickening and it drove me insane.
I ran and ran, not knowing when or where to stop. I just ran. That is, until I heard screeching and wailing noises behind me. This is it. They are now following me.

Author's Note
Just a random horror-ish story to accompany the dark layout. I revised it since the one on asainfanfics had some grammatical errors. Hopefully it's still good, haha. What am I even thinking? I doubt people actually read layout samples, haha. Hope you like this layout! - Ann
