"Shit!" the co-pilot muttered as they realized that the chance of their survival was slim.
The fuel tank was leaking and the engine was failing.
They were in a hopeless state.

"Mayday! Mayday! Can you hear me? Mayday!!" Kevin spoke in his in microphone trying to contact the ATCs, i.e, the Air Traffic Control tower but to their dismay, the radio was also unresponsive. "Mayday?"
He realized his heart was beating really loudly. He was scared.

"Passengers, please fasten your seat-belts and don't panic."  Nick  announced to the scared passengers. "I repeat, do not panic."
While he was going back to the pilot cabin, he chuckled at the irony in his announcement. 'Don't panic'. How can they not when the pilots themselves are?!

The air hosts were trying to calm the people as much as possible and did all they could to maintain their composure so that, the pilots can calm down. Especially AJ, who personally went to every single person and making sure they regained their composure and helping them with other tasks.
Its an important factor for the whole crowd in the plane.

Even thought he was trying to control the plane, Howie could sense the tension in the air.

"How much time do we have, Howie?" Nick questioned.

"Er- approximately, another 15 minutes. The chance of our survival without radio signal, failing engine and leaking fuel, is narrow." He looked at the latter's eyes seriously. "Pray. Pray that we could have a miracle. A miracle for us to land the plane safely..."

Suddenly they heard a scream outside the cabin and everyone except Howie, who was concentrating on the plane, trying to keep it steady, went to look for the source of scream leaving the automatic cabin door to close itself.

Turns out, a passenger saw the dark fumes coming out of the engine from the glass window and the poor girl couldn't control herself...

"Howard, calm down. You have to relax! The plane has to land safely. Calm down!" the pilot muttered to himself.
At that moment, the power was cut off.
As he presumed, the power shortage was for the failing engine to have a bit more energy.

"Shit. What should I do now?!" He cried inside his head.
He was now afraid of the failure he was going to face.
"Brian... I wish you were here now..." he wailed silently.

Brian Littrell was his best friend. His encouragement. Practically his whole life.
He was the one who pursued Howie to become a pilot like his own dreams.
The two friends were the best as they accompanied each other during their flight as the co-pilot.

All was well until three years ago...
Until they went for the night club and got drunk...
Until they drove the  car thought they knew it was a bad idea...
Until they met with that accident...

Even now, Howie regret all the actions as he blames himself for he knew whatever happened to Brian was all because of him...
He simply lost his best friend who left him for another land far far away on the spot when the glass shard stabbed his heart.

Howie cried for the 1st time in his life after the accident.
The plane was unstable and he knew... He failed.

"Dear Brian, I guess, we are gonna meet again..." he whispered as tears swelled in his eyes.
He could hear the panic coming from the passengers again.
He started to wait for his doom.

"Howie" someone called the pilot from behind.

"Hmm?" he tried to look at the person. He could vaguely see a figure standing next to him.
"Nick? Is that you?" he asked but no reply came.

He could hear the latter sit on the co-pilot seat.
"Nick... Its no use. We are all gonna die. This was something unexpected from the full functioning proper plane..." he whispered sadly.

"No! Don't say that! You are going to land." the younger spoke. His voice seemed different. Probably from the panic, he presumed.

"Nope Nick... Its no use... Your encouragement is not working." Howie gave a hollow chuckle.

"Howard Dorough!! Stop this drama! Just trust me and take the control! Look, we are going to land this baby." the other shouted in scolding.

"Land this baby when you can't see anything?" the pilot shrugged. He didn't remember any other pilot using 'baby' other than one specific cheerful childish pilot...

"Yes. Concentrate bro. Keep it steadfast and calm your nerves." he calmed the latter.

Surprisingly, the pilot was calming down. He found a new source of energy and confidence from the words of the younger.

"Yeah... That's right Howie. You can do it." the latter continued to encourage him.

Soon, they both saw light lighting up a way. "Hey, do you think that's what we are looking for?" the main pilot asked excitedly.

"Well, I guess it is..." the reply came.

The cabin was still dark and that light was like the answer to their lives. A total miracle they have prayed for.

"Come on.. Lets land this baby now." he spoke to the pilot.

"Yeah..." the latter replied and started to lower the plane.

Smoothly and gracefully, the plane was touched down.
The sign of relief could be heard from the passengers as the pilot and the co-pilot shook their hands happily at their victory.

Howie was the happiest of the duo. As he shook hand with his co-pilot, he could feel smooth and soft leather glove.

"Good luck." the latter whispered when the light came back.

"Howie!! You did it!" Kevin rushed in as soon as the power came back. "Oh! I'm sorry for leaving you alone when the power went off!" he smiled with relief but had a guilty voice. "You were the best! You did it all yourself!!!"

"Nah... Its ok. Thought Nick was here..."

"What are you talking about? Nick? He was with us..."

Howie stared at him blankly. "What do you mean?!"

Kevin sighed. "You must be tensed at that moment to think he was here. We were locked out the cabin. Remember? We are having automatic door which works on electricity..."

But he refused to believe for he knew all this time, he had a co-pilot.

"I don't know bro, but congratulations! You did the best job!" Kevin praised as the other members of the hosts and pilot came.

"I don't get it..." he whispered until everything came back to his head as crystal clear image when he saw a small micky-mouse-face plastic piece which probably could have come from the particular watch he knew.
Yang Yoseob.Brian Littrell..

"Howie Dowie! Whatever happens, I'll always be there for you, no matter whatever stands against us. Even if I die, I'll be there by your side. That's the depth of our friendship!"
Howard remembered those words from Brian on their graduation day. He must have taken it lightly, but the latter hadn't...

---

"This is one of the miracle storys we have ever seen... Howard Dorough, could we have you on the stage please to receive this award?" the host proclaimed.

Howie briskly walked to the platform as he wanted to end it soon. He didn't want to appear for this ceremony but was forced to.

He went to the stage and received a badge of bravery from the minister of America and a certificate stating his bravery.

Along with him, the other members also received their certificates.

"We would sincerely like to thank BSB for the brave act and their success..."

Soon, the ceremony was over.
Howie got up from the gang of 5 boys who were sitting together.

"Where are you going?" Kevin asked.

"We are not BSB without him..." he replied.

"Would you like have me accompany you?" AJ asked.

Howie just looked at him and shook his head.
They were BSB but not close to Brian like he was.

He walked to the grave of his best friend. He always did.
When he had problems, he used to talk to his friend in front of the tombstone.

The graveyard as people think isn't spooky or scary. Just a peaceful place where people can actually rest.

"He dude... " now, he was in front of a grave on his knees. "Today, we got the award for the bravery and the whole world knows about."
He chuckled. "They call what happened as a miracle story... In a way, I guess, they are right... You really made a miracle."

When he said what happened to Kevin, Nick and AJ, they just shrugged it off thinking he made it up...
So, no one knows the real story.

The plastic micky mouse piece melted like gas when he took it in his palm in the plane. So, there was no proof, either.

"Here... This belong to you..." he said as he took the gold badge from his blazer and placed it on the grave.
"You were the miracle. If it weren't for you..." he was at loss for words.

He made a small hole on the ground as close as he could make near the grave and put the badge in it. "Hope it'll always be here..." he whispered as he refilled the dig back.

As a reply, a gentle breeze brushed is hair from his face.

Howard Dorough went back home with a small smile playing on his lips.

I am crying???? My God. Other than the few confusing parts between BSB's members names and BEAST's members names, this story is so heartwarming and sweet!
