loved - the last breath

She hopes that somewhere in this world – there is hope. She hopes that somewhere in this world – her loved ones have not used up their last breath. She hopes that somewhere in his world – her loved ones are okay. She loves them and wants nothing more than for them to return home, safe and sound.

But as the clock continues to tick, she is starting to doubt that hope. It has been minutes, hours, days and even weeks since she last saw them. No one knows where they went. No one knows why they disappeared. No one knows where they are. No one knows if there are any survivors. At this rate, it seems unlikely for there to be any survivors but her heart remains determined to her hopes, and her hopes will never die out.

The pain and torment that pulls at her heartstrings overwhelm her. Many comfort her, sends her their hopes from those who know her to mere strangers – so many relatives were there and now they had disappeared without a trace. But she doesn’t need their apologies, she doesn’t want them either. All she needs, all she wants is for her loved ones to come home again, safe and sound. That way, she can embrace them and pretend like nothing happened. That they never went missing and that they were never so close to taking their last breath.

She will wait until her last breath to see them, feel them in her arms and to shower her love on them.

(But time tells her that she may have to wait forever.)
