The Cries In The Rain

John woke up the next morning after another night being alone.

 

He let out a sigh and got up. He walked into his bathroom and stood in front of the mirror.

 

He goes through his morning routine and goes downstairs to eat.

 

"Hi dad!" John says as he sees his father in the kitchen.

 

His dad just nods in reply and continues making another cake.

 

John chuckles under his breathe and grabs a pop tart. Since his dad didn't make anything.

 

But he was already in a hury so he ate it on the bus.

 

He walks into class and doesn't see Dave yet. But he was used to that because a part of Dave's "cool kid act" was being late for class.

 

And everytime, all John could think about was how incredible Dave was.

 

"Hi John! Did you sleep well?" Jade said as she nudged John from his seat a little so she could sit in it with him.

 

Cute.

 

"Hey Jade. Yeah I slept well -lies. he couldn't get to sleep as long as he was alone- What about you?" John said as he almost fell out of his chair.

 

"Oh I slept. but not when I wanted to." She said, placing her hands on the table top.

 

Then out of no where she gasps and runs off after looking at her reminders on her fingures.

 

John could never understand how she used ruber bands to remind her of things.

 

He chuckled as he seen her run around.

 

Without John knowing, Dave slipped into the room and sat in the seat next to his own. John turned his head and jumped in suprise a bit.

 

"Dave! When did you get there?! Way to go, scaring your best friend!" John said, trying to control his breathing.

 

Dave laughed a bit at the result of scaring him. "You're so easy, John." Dave said while walking away to his own seat right before the teacher walked in.

 

Why does he have to be so freaking perfect.

 

School was over and john decided to walk home since it was a quiet day. 

 

He stopped off at a gas station to get a drink. His home wasn't exactly close from school.

 

He decided to get a Faygo and as he was walking out he heard a familiar voice call out to him.

 

"Why do you drink that shit. How badly has Gamzee corupted you, dude?" Dave said, walking past him.

 

John could feel his heart flutter when he had seen him.

 

Flashback

"I bet that I can swing higher then you!" Said John, who at this point in time was in the fifth grade.

 

"Dude. No. You know I can beat your ass without breaking a sweat." Dave said in reply.

 

"Then prove it!" John said, running over to the swings, getting a head start.

 

"Idiot." Dave said, trying not to smile.

 

cool kids.

 

He then got on the swing and started to swing higher then John at first. As he looked over at john, he noticed that he was frowning from almost loosing.

 

Then, without thinking. Dave jumped off in the air, landing on a patch of grass.

 

"Dave!" John shouted as he jumped of, closer to the ground. He then ran over to him.

 

"Are you okay? Why did you fall?" John said, helping Dave up. Who had a few scrapes on his knee's.

 

"No dude. I'm good. I ment to do that. Haven't you ever done that before. Wow lame much." Dave said, walking away to a big tree. He then started to climb it.

 

John just stood there, wondering why he decided to do that.

 

Flashback Ends

 

John finally got home and ran up to his computer. To see if anyone had messaged him or not.

 

He notided that it was a message from one of the trolls.

FINE WHATEVER

LIKE I REALLY CARE

 

Hey Karkat

whats up

 

OH SO NOW YOU DECIDE TO ANSWER ME

ANYWAYS

WHATS UP WITH YOUR COOL EARTH KID?

I THINK HE'S UPSET OR SOME SHIT

NOW THAT I HAVE GOTTEN WHAT I WANTED TO SAY OUT

I WILL NOW GO

 

Karkat was always like that. But John didn't really care.

 

Wait. What did he mean by he's upset or something..

 

So John messaged him.

 

Hey Dave

You okay

hello

well i'm coming over

so expect me there in a few minutes

 

John then got to his house and knocked on the door.

 

Insted of seeing Dave, he seen bro.

 

"Oh hey! Is dave there?"

 

He pointed up to his room, letting John know he could go up there.

 

Even though John had been to his house and in his room many times, he still felt nervous being alone with him again.

 

He knocked on the door and walked in.

 

"Hey Dave. Are you okay?" John said as he searched the room for Dave.

 

He then spotted him, sitting under his blanket on his bed.

 

John walked over to him and sat on the bed next to him.

 

Before he said anything, he heard faint sobs coming from the lump on the bed.

 

"Dave? What's wrong?" John said, slowly lifting up the cover.

 

Before he could react, Dave shot up and hugged him. He had tears stainded on his cheeks.

 

For a while they sat like that, in the silence.

 

Then John could hear Dave mumble something.

 

"I can't take it. I just can't." Dave said, slowly letting go of John and sitting up to face him.

 

John looked at him really confused.

 

'what do you mea-" John started to say, before he was cut off.

 

"I can't take not knowing if someone likes me or not. It kills me..." Dave said, wiping away some more tears.

 

"I know what you mean..." John said, quietly.

 

"No you don't. When have you ever liked anyone. Since the day I met you, You have never talked to any other people besides Jade, Rose, and me. So how would you know what it's like?" Dave said to him, not knowing why he was saying these things.

 

John felt a sharp pain in his chest.

 

"I just do... Now what were you talking about, just then?" John said, trying to change the topic.

 

"I just love her too much. And she doesn't want anthing to do with me. Dave said, crying again.

 

Her.

 

That single word peirced through John's mind, over and over again.

 

He always knew Dave liked someone, But he didn't know it was a girl.

 

"Who is this... Her." John said through his teeth, trying not to scream.

 

"You know that really hot girl in our English class? Anna? Well, that's the one person I can't get to like me. WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE HER?!?" Dave said, screaming the last bit.

 

John felt like running out of the room, crying. But he didn't.

 

He thought the same thing.

 

"Why does it have to be her."

 

Those simple words played through his thoughts the whole time, he agreed with Dave.

 

Why her?

 

Why is she so special.

 

Why not him.

 

Why not the one person who has been there for him everyday since they met.

 

But no matter what he thought, it was still her.

 

"Look man, someday, you'll realize who really cares for you. I have to go." John said, walking over to the door.

 

He stopped at the door way.

 

"Let's just hope that when you do realize it, that it wont be too late." He said walking out of the door, not letting Dave answer him back.

 

He ran home crying.

 

But no one could tell he was crying, because it started to rain.

 

Really hard.

 

The winds were so strong that John was knocked over so fast, he flew into a pole. Hitting his head and just like that, he was asleep.
