Chapter II

   After all that ordeal, I was then brought to a place with bright white curtains and chocolate on the table. I mentally scoffed and thought about how this measly room or place was a broom closet compared to my own spacious room.

I was trying to remember what happened after I cried my heart out. Then a woman,who was apparently a maid, came in. She seemed to be about the age of 25, yet she was still beautiful and had youthful features.

"Dear, are you awake? Well please let me explain. This might be very sudden, but listen to me."

Although she had not said it, I caught the underlying meaning: Well, after everything you've been through, I honestly doubt anything could actually hurt you anymore.

"Umm... may I know where I am first?"

"Alright, you're at the Klein house and my name is Jessica"

"The Klein's house...? You can't mean the most prestigious family that housed people from all over the country?!"

There had been rumors about this particular... family. Some say that the people that were in this vicinity were trained to be cold-blooded assassins.

Other's have said that this family was just a place that housed orphans that were young who were part of the slums that will live here for 17 years. Then they would be tested to see who would become the heir and take control.

Then there was the rumor that really made them seem heartless. It was said that the house used equipment and drugs that made the children mindless and on the verge of insanity.

Either way, being here was not good... for my mind.

I didn't see people neither did I see other children. I turned to her and asked 

" Where are other kids?"

"Other kids?" She replied with a shocked look.

" Is this place not like an orphanage that buys kids and trains them?"

She let out an amused laugh and said " Of course not, the rumors are fake, Master Klein will never do such a thing."

Such a thing? I thought in my head and I asked her what is my purpose here.

"Well...." She sounded uneasy.

" Let me just get you prepared for today's ball."

" BALL? But I'm not...."

"Exactly that's why we must start now. First, let's get you washed."

As she escorted me to the bathtub, I thought about why the most powerful man in the country would make such a deal with my family. I thought about possible relationships and all I thought about was my great great- grandfather's murder.

I didn't want to think and just dug myself to the bottom of the tub and stayed there. My skin became prune and wrinkled. I observed the wrinkles and sighed. I had to get out.

I dressed in the prepared clothes and came out looking like a French doll.

" Well, miss.  You look wonderful!!" 

I blushed, a bit elated and embarrassed, and gently asked "What's next?"

Next she taught me the basic etiquette and dancing.

It was almost time. However I still hadn't mastered balancing in high heels. Jessica sighed and said, "Well, practice does take time so I'll be happy to escort you during the ball" 

She got a bright blue midnight dress and I almost fainted when I saw the 1-inch high heels.

 We were almost ready, and there were a lot of guests. They were looking at me as I walked slowly down the stairs.

There were a few steps left when I got overexcited in getting down that I tripped, and a man caught me.

The people were gasping and so was Jessica.

He then carried me like a princess and said,"This is her! I chose to marry Cymes Klein"

" Wha..."

Before I could finish, our lips connected.

You know how people say that there are fireworks at the background and there are music, too? Well, unfortunately for me that didn't happen.

Not only did our lips connect, so did our teeth. 

I was mortified and broke it off immediately. I slapped him with my face as red as a tomato and tears prickling at the back of my eye.
