Eyes gleaming she smiles.
Whispering to me, “Him.”
“I want him.”
I stare back at her.
“Help me get him,” she says.
Whispers hang thick in the air like a heavy haze of smoke. I ignore the stares, the vicious smiles with sharp fangs, and the gleam in their eyes. The path opens before me, vampires scattering from my presence. “It’s her,” they whisper.
Finally someone stops me, a cold hand grabbing me by the shoulder. “You don’t belong here,” says a deep raspy voice. Turning my head slightly I glance at the vampire who bravely approached me. “Why?” I ask. In the background everyone watches in tense silence. The tall vampire answers, “You’re a vampire hunter. Our kind doesn’t mix with yours.”
I turn to face him, “And who may you be?” He crosses his thick arms, “I’m the owner of this place. How did you find this place?” I place a hand on my sword hilt, “The same way the rest did,” I tilt my head at the vampires.
Suddenly someone speaks up, “You’re the one killing off vampires!” The crowd of vampires part to reveal a young vampire with dirty blond hair. He glares at me then turns to the crowd, “What are you all so afraid of? It’s just a puny human girl!” He points a finger at me, “We have the power to kill her! We’re stronger and faster than her!”
The vampires shift uncomfortably. “She’s surrounded! What are you all waiting for this is our chance to kill her! She can’t beat us all at once!” I smirk. He notices, his anger flaring, “What are you laughing at?” “You don’t really get what’s going on, do you?” I ask. “What?” he growls.
I look up at the owner of the bar, “He’s the dumb one isn’t he?” With a roar the young vampire attacks me. I just stand there, not even bothering to defend myself. As silent as night he appears, wisps of blackness materializing in front of me.
The young vampire gasps, coughing out blood, a huge gaping wound in his chest. His eyes roll up and he collapses on the ground. All the vampires visibly take several steps away.
“As you can see I have a very hungry cannibalistic vampire with me,” I say. The owner of the bar eyes me warily, “What do you want?” He glances at the figure behind me, the vampire licking blood off his long claws. I spin around facing the crowd of vampires. “I’m here to make a deal.”
“Why should we make a deal with you?” An auburn haired female vampire emerges from the crowd. I glance at my vampire companion, “It’s simple really. Give me a vampire—like a sort of offering. One a day will do. Do that and we promise not to kill all of you to extinction.”
