Author's Note: This is an idea I posted in my former Wattpad account. It was done by pure boredom from my high school freshman year. At first, I tried to continue the ending of this story, but the plot in this was not that good for me, so I let it be like this. I would like it very much if you read it so that I will have rooms for improvement.
Enjoy.
“The 8:30 PM flight to America will take off in an hour. Please board in 15 minutes. Again the 8:30 PM flight…” those words echoed in my mind. People with luggage and staff and police were walking about the airport.
“Where is she?” I turned circles and circles looking for a girl. Apparently, she was invited to go to Julliard because of her piano skills. This is my last chance to see her, to talk to her, to confess to her.
Just when I was about to give up, I saw her sitting down on the end of the empty chairs, earphones plugged as she read a book. Seeing her smile and have her own world fascinated me and my heart beat faster. “This is my chance.” I tightened my fist and walked up to her. By the time I sat down on the chair behind her, she noticed me and her dimples showed as she smiled.
“Hope.” I called out her name.
“Faith.” she chuckled. “So you knew.” her smile turned to a small grin and she unplugged one of her earphones.
“Yeah…congrats. You’re going to be a famous musician now.”
“Thank you.” she bowed. “Can you lean your head Faith?” she told me. I did whatever she said. “I want to stay like this for awhile before it happens.” I heard her sigh. God we’re so close with each other. If only this moment—
“I wish this moment would last forever.” my eyes widened as I heard it. I ruffled her hair and chuckled. I wish.
“Don’t. It’s better if you go to America. You said…you want to make it big when you debut, right?” my voice croaked. Damn it, Faith. Don’t cry now! I bit my lower lip.
“A-Are you alright?” I could feel her head turning.
“Don’t!” I shouted. I forced her not to turn. “I-I’m fine. I just have a cold.” I lied.
“O-Oh.” I heard her voice quiver. “Y-Yeah. I really want to be famous worldwide.” I must be hearing things. She can’t be crying. I’m just a mere acquaintance. We rarely met. Yet I can’t help but love her.
“Then this is your opportunity. Don’t waste your time here in the Philippines. You’ll be able to do better there.”Hold those tears, man. My fist tightened. Stop it!
“But…” she didn’t finish and her head lowered.
“It’s now or never. Even when I’m going to miss you Hope, like your name…” I failed to laugh. “I hope you’ll always remember me.”
“Promise me when I have the chance to get back here, you’ll treat me to Mcdo and we’ll go to EK like last time.”
A soft “Sure.” was all I could say.
“Pinky promise?” her hand reached out in the air, her smallest finger up.
“Promise.” I grinned and curled the finger with my left hand’s smallest one.
“Tell me when I’ll board now, ‘kay?” she was probably going to listen to music again. I nodded. Her head wasn’t leaning anymore. I wiped away my tears with a handkerchief. When I was sure I was alright now, I checked on her. She was back to reading her book. I check the time. 5 minutes left until she’ll board… I’ll confess to her now.
“Listen. I’m really glad I met you Hope. Although we’ve only met thrice, I feel comfortable being around you, maybe even more comfortable than I am with my parents, my sister or my friends. I’ve had so many chances to say this to you throughout everything we’ve done. From those unexpected library encounters to inviting you to EK and feeling like there’s no tomorrow.
“I…I love you Hope Angela Kim Cruz. I suppose there’s only a little chance you’ll hear me. I’m pretty sure you even don’t since you’re listening to music. I don’t expect for you to love me back. Considering we rarely meet, you might think it’s too sudden. Honestly I think so myself…but out of all the girls I’ve met, out of everyone I’ve known, you’re the only one that made my heart beat faster. I blush a lot when I see you. Now that you’re leaving…I’m crying everything out.”
“Please board now for the 8:30 PM flight to America. Again, please…” the announcer said.
I heaved a sigh. “It’s time.” I stood and shook her shoulder. “Hope, it’s time—” my words were cut.
Hope was crying. She noticed me and plugged out her earphones. “S-Sorry, is it time?”
I didn’t answer.
She wiped off her tears. “Don’t worry, it was the book. It’s…so touching.” she laughed and closed her book. I laughed with her and helped bring her luggage.
For a moment there, I thought she heard everything I said. I guess I was wrong.
I walked her to the boarding line and stood there.
“Goodbye Faith.” she hugged me.
“Goodbye…Hope.” I smiled. I waited for her to go inside before I walked away.
No. Please don’t.
Her graceful thumps echoed as she walked inside.
Don’t go away.
She looked back one last time and waved.
I was not there to see her.
It was too painful to look. I checked my watch again. “She should be up by now.”
Just then, an airplane sped on the road and I saw its wheels go inside and it flew up to the sky.
This was the last flight for the day.
“Goodbye Hope…” I breathed out. I choked back a sob and sighed looking at it went away. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” warm slender arms wrapped around my chest as a girl voiced.
It can’t be.
My heart stopped as I looked at those frail white fingers clutched onto my shirt. My back was becoming damp by the second.
She’s still here?
I looked to my side and I could smell that familiar, warm sweet fragrance she always wore. My eyes flitted to her long black wavy curls. I was afraid to voice it but I did. “…Faith?” I asked.
Her audible cries became shrill as she hugged tighter onto me.
She’s actually here.
I immediately unclasped her arms and turned to face her. My fingers automatically touched her cheek, as if it was meant to be placed there. Her tears glistened as she smiled.
“I’m sorry.” she said to me. “I lied back there, I…I heard everything about your confession and I…” she kept on stuttering.
I was at a complete lost and that once heavy feeling subsided in my heart. I wiped her tears and hushed her. We both stared deeply into each other’s eyes and I knew. I knew that she really does feel the same about me.
I leaned closer slowly raking her hair.
Our eyes closed and our lips moulded with each other.
It was the perfect kiss I’ve waited to have.
I leaned away and stroked the back of her hair. “I love you, Faith.” I confessed.
She laughed and I could feel her smiling. “I love you too, Hope.”
