Day 6 -

There was no worth in the New Year's party. Or at least in Alec's point of view.

He didn't like the music playing and he was a bit tired so most of the time he spent slouched in his chair while keeping a glass of wine closeby in case someone came to sit next to him who he couldn't stand. One of those would have been Ragnor who talked of nothing other than Magnus. Normally, the topic of Magnus would've gotten him to listen but all the warlock did was droll on about things that he didn't care. He even went so far to talk about the World Wars and how Magnus played a part in them. However, even that wasn't enough to pique Alec's interest.

Magnus took over trying to persuade his boyfriend to get up and do something but a Lightwood is not easy to convince. WIth enough effort, Alec finally gave in. He didn't want to come out at such a party but if he chose to continue to ignore Magnus, that may not end well either. It was choosing between the lesser of two evils basically. Alec went with the one that his heart chose, despite the constant argument his head was giving him in the end.

New Year's is not a normal celebration for Shadowhunters and Downworlders alike but in some cases, they must be happy that they have survived another year as well. Well, mostly the country rather than themselves. Shadowhunters have Idris and most Downworlders are immortal, such as the warlocks and vampires. If America, or New York more importantly, ended up in trouble, there would be another country somewhere else that they could simply inhabit. So New Year's was not a big thing to them overall.

"What will you wish for when the big ball drops?" Magnus asked with pure curiosity. After wishing for things the first few hundred years of his life, he gave up on it. "You should wish for something big. Like a whole new wardrobe. Preferably something with a little color in it."

Alec rolled his eyes but made no immediate comment. Even Shadowhunters and Downworlders were wasting their time watching a big disco-like ball drop as the seconds went on by to mark their new year. He didn't want to wish for anything. If anything, he just wanted a mission where Isabelle wore something practical (because high heels and leather pants are not the best material to wear when running) and Jace didn't hit on anyone (unless that particular anyone was male). But maybe he'd tell Clary about that later to bring the egotistical, handsome, tall Shadowhunter down a peg. Possibly.

"I don't want a wish." Alec chose to say instead, seeing as how there were only three seconds left.

Two seconds left.

One second left.

Like a lightbulb turning on, Mangus lit up, cheering with everyone else as the mundane did all while he was being turned. Slim fingers curled their way through his hair, breaking through the glittery mess as his head was tilted down just enough to meet with an eager pair of lips wanting their New Year's gift. Perhaps Alec did make a wish. Perhaps it had something to do with the kiss.

Welp. If only the ending was better. Happy belated New Year.
