Sunlight broke into the blue curtains that hung from his windows, directly hitting his pale face, small almond shaped eyes, his pointy small nose, and his thin lips. He scrunched up his nose recognizing the familiar blazing light hitting his face.
He buried his face on to a pillow and lets out a loud groan. Later on accepting the fact that he still has school, he heaves out a sigh. He places his arm above his forehead trying to block the light murdering him. His left eye slightly opening followed by the other one.
A fresh sight of his messy morning hair and his shirt slightly messed up would kill anyone’s eyes off. He places his elbows above his knees and rests his face on his palms. Sighs again, and then picks himself up. Looking around, looking for his roommates, he scratches the back of his neck and hurried to look for the time.
Cursing himself for forgetting that there was a clock right next to his bed, he quickly looks at it and his eyes automatically widened. He hurried himself up to the restroom while taking off his clothes. He lets the warm water hit his skin while he lathers the soap with his hand while the other was brushing his teeth.
“AISH! I told Sean and Xian to wake me up. I should have not stayed up all night trying to finish that Greek mythology book. Stupid twins.” He groaned.
Odd hobby he has actually. Being one of the school’s so called “heartthrob”, sounds cliché but he is, Greek mythology is his type. Not that he would take Athenaout for a date, but he would love to see her in person. Not a lot of people believe in such creatures, but the thought of it being “mythical” excites him.
He hurries and wears his uniform, checking one last time that he looked like a decent student, he dashes out of his dorm room. He checks his watch one last time and groaned. “Why does History class have to be so far away from our dorm?”
Running up the third and last set of steps, he stops for a while and took a deep breath. “L?” Upon hearing his name, he looked up only to see his senior. “Hi Chris.” His senior scoffed as he saw his younger friend gasping for air.
“Late again?” he asks. L quickly nodded, only to continue running again. “I’ve got to go Chris! I’ll see you later!” Chris giggled and continued doing his morning inspections.
Strange name L has, it’s only his nick name, his real name is Leo, Zeus knows why he picked L as his nickname. But L has always been like that, mysterious and only having two friends and a bunch of Greek mythology books by his side. j
L stood in front of his History class’s door and wished himself luck. He quietly opened the door ready to be screamed at but his classmates’ loud voices greeted him. He quickly walked to his seat and plunged himself down.
“What’s going on?” He tapped the backs of his two friends whom were in front of him. “ Professor Young is running a bit late because of the new student.” Sean explained as nicely as possible. “Yah. Don’t even try to sweet talk me, I told you guys to wake me up.” L slapped both of his friends on their heads.
“It’s all Xian’s fault. He told me not to wake you up because you were sleeping oh so soundly.” Sean explained while rubbing the back of his head. Xian shot glares at Sean. “Yeah. Blame the guy who gave you extra minutes to sleep. Sorry L, but you were dreaming about your creatures again.”
L was about to open his mouth when the professor came in. “Good morning class!” The students stood up and waited for the president’s call. “Greet now.” The president ordered and all of them greeted. “Good morning Professor Young.”
Professor Young waved his hand downwards to signal the students to sit down. “I’m sorry I’m late but as you all know, I was picking the new student up.” Everybody immediately started murmuring as the ‘new-student’ topic came up. “Everyone I’d like you to meet Sophia.”
Her long brown curly hair, perfectly shaped eyes, her plump pink lips, her pointed nose, and v shaped face attracted everyone. While walking to the professor, she gives everyone smile. “Good morning everyone, I’m Sophia. I hope we could all get along.”
“She’s beautiful, L look at her.” Sean said while tapping the hand of his friend. L looked as closely as possible and he immediately thought of someone. “She reminds me of Euryale.” The twins looked at him with an ‘are-you-serious’ look. “Who in the world has a name of Euryale?” Xian asked L. “Euryale is a sister of a Medusa, her screams can kill a person and like medusa she could also turn people into stone with her gaze. Euryale is known for being the ugliest among the sisters, but for some reason she looks like Euryale.”
“There’s a hot chic in our class and all you could think of is a girl with snakes on her head? She’s gorgeous!” Sean had a poker face on and Xian was mentally face palming himself. “Sorry, I can’t help it.” Professor Young smiled at Sophia and asked her to sit down. “You can sit beside Mr. Bluestone.”
Upon hearing his name L stood up and faced the teacher. “Yes Professor Young?” he asked. The Professor pointed at L and Sophia’s and his eyes met. Sophia smiled and L found himself mesmerized by Sophia’s smile. L sat down as Sophia walked towards the empty seat next to him.
“Now, let’s start with a new lesson.” Professor Young announced as he was busy fixing the projector. “Hi.” L turned around and found Sophia smiling at her. “Sophia Anne Morningstar.” Sophia said as ascending her arm for a handshake. L shook it and Sophia continued smiling. “Leo Bluestone, but call me L.”
Sophia nodded understanding everything. “Unique nickname L.” Sophia complimented and L nodded. He wasn’t actually the type whom would talk to girls, but Sophia having a resemblance to Euryale made L comfortable around Sophia.
“Now, who’s familiar about Greek mythology?” Upon hearing the five letter word, L’s ears perked up. “I do Sir!” L shot his arm right up, his eyes widened and his smile was a mile long. “A bit active today are we Mr. Bloodstone, I like it. You should be like that everyday.” Sophia’s eyes widened when she saw how L was so interested with Greek mythology. “Greek mythology huh?” Sophia asked.
L scratched the back of his neck and nodded. Sophia was utterly amazed on how L was listening attentively and answering every question that the teacher was asking. “Now, let us go to the God of the seas, Poseidon.” Sophia’s eyes twitched and her eyes were dark. She dropped her pen and L picked it up for her.
L noticed the darkness in Sophia’s eyes and slightly shook her. Sophia’s eyes blinked numerous times and she turned her attention to L whose eyes were worried. Sophia gave him an assuring smile. “Are you okay Sophia?” Sophia nodded. “I just hate Poseidon. That’s all.” L’s eyes widened and stared at Sophia. “What?” Sophia scoffed.
L giggled a bit. “Why do you hate him? You don’t even know him that well.” Sophia rolled her eyes and shook her head. “I know him very well. He was the one who killed Euryale and Nessus because they had some kind of secret affair. Like who cares right? Does he even know…”
L’s eyes just sparkled upon hearing Sophia utter words about Greek mythology. He was so mesmerized. His eyes grew wide as he was hearing facts about his “creatures” and he didn’t even know those facts. “Wait he killed Euryale? But nobody knows how Euryale died! And Nessus was killed by Heracles. Didn’t he-”
“Okay class, please do a research on Medusa’s sisters. That will be our lesson tomorrow. Class dismissed.” L didn’t get to finish his sentence and when he was about to continue it, but Sophia already left. L looked everywhere and he found no sight of her. His head was turning from side to side trying to look for her.
L shrugged it off and decided to go to the school’s library to look for more information. He was positive that Sophia was not anyone who would lie about Greek mythology, her face was so serious and she knew like what she was talking about.
“Sophia Morningstar, who exactly are you?” L entered the library’s doors and quickly headed for the Mythology section. He grabbed all the books that would be helpful for his research. He saw a small book that was probably hundreds of years old squeezed in between two large books. No one would probably have seen it but his eyes were so focused in looking for the perfect book that he would have seen even if it is the tiniest book.
“The real Gorgons. The real story about the three snake headed sisters! Perfect!” L exclaimed happily and rushed to the librarian, satisfied because he found the perfect book.
