Chapter 3

Sunlight broke into the blue curtains that hung from his windows, directly hitting his pale face, small almond shaped eyes, his pointy small nose, and his thin lips. He scrunched up his nose recognizing the familiar blazing light hitting his face.

*What the?* L shot right up and saw he was back in his dorm room. His eyes widened and looked at the time. “I’m late for school?” He asked himself. He checked his clothes and saw that it was the same clothes he was wearing before. “What the hell is happening?”

He quickly took a bath and ran to go to his History class. “Why does History have to be- wait. I already said that.” He was running through the halls with his eyes staring into nothing and still confused about everything.

Again, climbing the third and last set of steps, he stopped and his eyes widened seeing his Senior, wearing the same clothes, the same mischievous smile. “Late again?” He asks. L was now really confused. He nodded only to start running again. “I’ve got to go Chris! I’ll see you later.”

L continued running and running. “This is really weird.” He picked up his feet faster to his History class and opened the door. “What the hell is happening?” He saw his classmates, once again, running around like mad people. He quickly walked towards his seat and plunged himself down. “What’s going on?” He asked his two friends. “Professor Young is running a bit late because –“ “of the new student. I know that already, you told me yesterday.” L cuts them off and bot Xian and Sean were looking at him.

“How could we tell you when we were out with our parents yesterday?” Xian said while still looking as confused as ever. “You went when it was Sunday! It was Monday yes-” “Good morning class!” Professor Young went in, wearing the same clothes and the same girl he saw yesterday came in wearing this dashing smile.

Sophia’s eyes were locked with L’s. When Sophia finally sat down, L shook her arm. Sophia flinched and turned her attention to L. “Yes?” Sophia asked with confusion in her eyes. “Sophia Anne Morningstar! It’s me L!” Sophia nodded her head slowly and ascended her arm. “Nice to meet you L. So you know my name?” L ruffled his hair in confusion and rested his head in his arms.

Sophia shook him lightly and L slightly tilted his head. “Aren’t you going to listen to the lesson?” L shook his head. “No. I already know about it. Tomorrow’s assignment is about the Gorgon sisters.” L quickly placed his head again in his arms and Sophia bit her lower lip. “I’m sorry L.” She whispered quietly.

(flashback)

Sophia continued muffling her mourns. “Why did I have to inherit mother’s deathly cries?” She looked at the unconscious L and felt bad again. “I’m really sorry.” Sophia got the book from L’s hands and got her picture from the back of the book. “You were right Hermes, this is some special paper. Are you hiding well in France?” Sophia carefully placed the picture in her bag and stood up.

Sophia looked at her phone and saw the time ’10:46’. “What time did you wake up L?” Sophia crouched beside L and placed her hand on his forehead. She closed her eyes and tried to dig deep into L’s thought. “8:31. Oh! You were late for school weren’t you?” She softly giggled.

Sophia smiled and removed her hand from L’s forehead which was unconsciously moving to L’s cheeks. Sophia’s eyes widened and quickly backed up from L. “Ferdinand. So this is your great-grandson huh? You two look exactly alike Ferdinand Bluestone.” Sophia’s smile was gentler and she kept looking at how L looked like her past lover.

‘I will love you, forever.’ Sophia smiled as she remembered how Ferdinand said I love you to her before. “You were always the cheesy type.” Sophia held L’s hand and watched as the things surrounding her stood still and then moved backwards. She took out her phone and saw as the time in her phone slowly descended.

“8:00, this should be good.” She lets go of L’s hand and tried to pick L up. “Of all the things I could do, I don’t have incredible strength?” She groaned as she was struggling to pull L up. “Come on L. I can’t change the time twice. Why are you so heavy?”

Sophia decided to head to the dorms first and place L back in his bed. She firstly peeked through the small opening that she made by opening the door to see if Xian and Sean were still there. “Yes! They’re not here.” Sophia looked around and tried to remember the pictures she saw before through L’s mind.

“Ah! The one with blue curtains. ” Sophia quickly carried L to his bed and placed him in a position where he’s to be. Sophia rushed herself out just in time when L was about to wake up. Sophia heard cussing and constant rustling sounds which means L is moving around and confused.

Sophia sighed and looked at the book in her hands. “Time to return you where you should be.”

L was in a daze while walking to the library. “THE LIBRARY!” He shouted and rushed to the library. “It has to be here, right? If it’s here, then I really don’t know what to do!” L ran through the different aisles trying to find where the book he “supposedly” borrowed was.

L stopped in one familiar aisle and walked to where he thinks the book was. Searching in between big books, he gasps when he finally found it. Being careful that it will not rip, he pulls it out. He was flustered to see the book was once again in his hands. “What’s happening to me?” L asks himself.

Lunch time came and Sophia was sitting in the school’s front yard happily eating her lunch. “Sophia!” Sophia turned her head and saw L and the twins waving at her. “Oh! You’re here?” He asks as she wipes her mouth with her handkerchief. “What are you doing here? Don’t you want to eat inside the school’s canteen?” Xian asked while sitting down beside her.

Sophia shook her head as the other two sat beside her also. “No. It’s too noisy. Pardon me for asking, but which one is Xian and which one is Sean?” The both of them giggled, Xian too Sophia’s hand and shook it. “Alexian Bloomberg and this is Sean Bloomberg. His taller than me and has darker hair color.”

Sophia shook her head in amazement. “It’ll take a while for me to get used to you two.” Sophia giggled and eyed L as he was so absorbed with the Gorgon sisters book. Sean turned his attention to what Sophia was looking at clucked his tongue. “Oh don’t mind him. He’s normally like that.”

“Physically here, mentally there?” Sophia joked as both of them laughed. “I guess you can say that.” Sean replied. Xian pats L’s back a bit too hard and teased him. “So how’s that Euryale girl?” Sophia dropped her spoon upon hearing her mother’s name. It made a loud thud on her lunchbox so the twins looked at her.

“You know Euryale?” Sophia asked. Both of them nodded. “Yeah, L was talking about how she resembled you. But when I searched Euryale’s name, she was huge and ugly. I have no idea why L said that.” L tsk-ed and shot death glares at them “I told you. I don’t know why but she just gave me an Euryale feeling.” L defended himself.

“So you were mentally here?” Xian teased again. “Yeah. Laugh all you want but according to this book Euryale is the prettiest among the sisters. Look.” L turned the book towards his friends and Sophia spat her drink out. Sean pats her back lightly and was continuously asking if she was okay. “Sorry about that. But I was just shocked about the picture.”

“Oh! It does look like Sophia!” Xian exclaimed while placing the picture beside Sophia’s face. Sophia’s body tensed up and her hands were starting to get sweaty. “Oh well. We are all brothers and sisters. Maybe I was a descendant from the MYTHICAL CREATURE Euryale.” Sophia stuttered and emphasizing on the words ‘mythical creature’. Sophia bit her lower lip and continued eating. ‘Am I caught red handed already? Impossible! I’ve hidden it very well for the past thousands of years.’
