{{Age 14}} -- 9th Grade

 Chapter 4 --

{{"So a year has passed and we still remained a 3-girl group." I continued.

"Wait, did she feel better?" Josephine asked.

"Eventually she did, yes but she decided to go into a different direction in our 7th grade and years later on. She no longer gave us smiles to show us that she was okay but we all assumed that she was getting better." I answered.

"Hanna never went back to you guys?!" Josephine sounded surprised, "I thought you were all really close?" she asked again.

"No, she found different friends. A whole different cliché. We were really close but I don't know, she saw everything differently. I guess we reminded her of the past. But, at that time of my life, I hated who she had became. Not out of jealously but she turned for the worse. I knew her true potential and she threw it all away, the life she walked into wasn't for her but she decided to walk into it.}}

"Hey, there's gonna be a party at Selena's house, we got invited." Rena walked up to me with a party invitation with my name on it.

"Really? That's surprising," I took the invitation and read through it, "why'd we get invited?" I laughed briefly. Selena was one of the popular girls in our school, we'd have come conversations but they were brief and mostly about the class we shared.

Rena shrugged, "Beats me, you better come loser." She smiled at me and left to her class.

"Hey, wait, did Kaylee got invited?!" I yelled after her.

She turned around and stopped in the middle of the hallway, "Of course! Everyone knows that if you invite one of us, you invite all of us!" she chuckled and turned back around and almost walked into a guy. "Oh, sorry, Matt, haha" Rena said then kept walking.

Matt... I looked at him at the corner of my eye and saw him go into the bathroom. I took a deep breath, good thing I was cleaning out my locker. Maybe I'd find the guts to talk to him. Who am I kidding, no I won't. I sighed and knocked down a bunch of papers on the floor by accident and bent down to pick them up. I then heard the bathroom door open and close, I was too focused to see if it was Matt.

Once I finished picking up the papers, as soon as I looked up, the bathroom door opened and closed once again and Matt emerged. My heart skipped a beat. I looked down the hall and saw some other guy walking down the hall and bit my bottom lip. Should I say something? Matt pulled out his phone to check something then started to walk while putting it back in his pocket. He then started to head my way. My heart started to pound in my chest, my hands started to feel cold and I felt heat rush to my face. I shoved my face in my locker.

"Hey." I heard a voice say. I slowly took my head out of my locker and saw Matt standing near me. A large lump in my throat made it hard to swallow. I took a shaky breath and tried to force words to come out.

"Hi," I said, it was a little shorter than I wanted but this is progress.

"Did you hear about Selena's party?" he asked me, I nodded. "Oh, well I was wondering if you'd like to come with me. Well meet you there. I guess that's what I mean." he murmured the last part.

My heart seemed to stop but I was still alive. It was so surreal. I cleared my throat.

"Uh, yeah, of course I'll come with you." I said a little bit too excited. I sounded like a child.

"Cool, see you there then?" He started to walk away, while looking at me.

"Yeah!" I gave him the cheesiest smile and he gave me a smile back before turning around and headed for his class. When I turned my head back to my locker, I saw Hanna watching us from afar. I gave her a little wave and she just turned away, like we were never friends or we didn't even know each other's names.

Two weeks later on a Friday night, Selena's party was tonight. I walked with Rena and Kaylee to Selena's house, I told them about Matt asking me to be his date and how Hanna ignored my wave.

"I hate how much she's changed" Kaylee said, pulling out a mirror to check her make up. "But if she wants to act like a stranger and that we never cared about her well being then so be it, I don't care. I got the best two best friends I could ever ask for." Kaylee put her mirror away and swung her arms around our shoulders. Rena and I put our arms around her waist and smiled in agreement. Hanna doesn't have to act that way though. It was too much, too uncalled for.

We reached Selena's house and went through the door. Dance music was playing loud over the speakers, people conversing, laughing and couples kissing here and there. I was never into the partying lifestyle so this was all new to me. Kaylee and Rena have been to parties before, I was invited to them but I always turned them down.

Rena and Kaylee left me for socialization, dancing and other things I guess. I started looking around for Matt, it got to the point that I started asking people that I was familiar with where he was. No one knew except for one person. One of Hanna's friends. She had dark black hair, black eyeliner, nose piercing, black nails, pale skin, blue eyes, white gorgeous smile, and a short black dress. She wasn't gothic but she seemed to like heavy black make up and black clothes.

"I know where your little Matthew is." I giggled, she seemed intoxicated.

"Uh, well he's not mine but could you tell me where he is?" I asked. I seemed and looked so innocent compared to her. I looked pretty pitiful compared to her. Then I started looking at the other girls and started to feel self conscious, a feeling I never really felt before.

She swung a arm around my shoulders and drunkenly pointed upstairs and started laughing while walking away, spilling some of her drink, making her way to Selena. I turned and looked up the stairs, my heart thumped louder than the music.

I started to make my way up the stairs and knocked on all the doors until I saw one slightly open. I peeked through and saw Matt on a bed. I sighed, relieved that some other girl wasn't on him and opened the door fully, I started to smile then I saw a figure across from him. I looked to see Hanna dancing to the music downstairs in front of Matt. At first I didn't think much of it, or it didn't register until Hanna started to climb on top of him. My heart shattered and without thinking, I pushed her forcefully off him. Tears streaming down my face.

"How could you?!! I cared about you!!" I screamed at her, letting all my anger out on her that I didn't even know I had. "You are such a back stabber!! You knew I liked him!!! Why would you do something like that when all I showed you was love?!! I loved you like a sister!!!" she started to get back up and I pushed her back down forcefully, she then knocked me down and slapped me. I punched her in the eye. It was then Matt pulled her off me and picked me up. I shoved his hand away from me. Disgusted that he asked me to be his date, but does this.

I rushed down the stair, wanting to get out of there, hating the fact that I went in the first place. I wanted to give it one shot but look at where its landed me. Punching my old best friend in the face.

"You didn't deserve him!!" I heard Hanna's voice behind me. I kept walking, eventually making it out the door. Outside, I just wanted to go home, I wanted to tell Kaylee and Rena that I left but not with Hanna behind me.

"I HATE YOU!! I hate Rena, I hate Kaylee but compared to both of them, I hate YOU the most!!!" Hanna's words made me stop in my tracks. My heart ached once more. She hated me. I turned my head, I saw a crowd of people with Rena and Kaylee emerging from the crowd.

"You act so INNOCENT when in reality you aren't!!! You're just too afraid of what the school will think of you!!" She took her shoe off and threw it at me, tears streaming down her face, making her heavy make up run.

"I have done nothing to you Hanna! I cared about you! Rena, Kaylee and I cared about you, and you just threw us away!! How do you think WE feel?! You are the most selfish person I've EVER met!! You didn't have to drop us like NOTHING!!" and with that, I picked up her shoe and threw it right at back her.

I turned away and walked home, Rena and Kaylee suddenly by my side. They put their arms around me as we walked. No one said a word about the party. It was hard to swallow, like a dry pill and with that we left Hanna behind forever, no longer any room for her in our circle of sisterhood.
