A A A A

Welcome back to plot.

Last lesson I covered what plot was and the elements of it.
This time, I’ll be talking about creating and developing your plot.

Creating a good story line can be hard, because it takes a lot of effort to come up with a unique idea for your story.

There are a lot of cliché fanfictions out there, and having a unique plot is what can change your story from good to great.

As I said last lesson, conflict is what drives the plot.

So to create a good, effective plot, your first problem is the

Well

Problem.

Coming up with an interesting plot is possibly one of the hardest parts of writing a fanfiction, or a story in general.

First things first, what is going to happen to your character(s)? Are they going to find a treasure chest buried deep in the corner of their basement, holding old artifacts, or maybe a secret love triangle will develop etc.

Now those are pretty cliché plots, but once you put your own twist on a plot, it makes your story just that much better and more enjoyable for your subscribers to read.

Now creating your storyline can be extremely difficult, but who says you have to do it alone?

Here are some quick little tips on how to help get the ideas flowing.

1.     Brainstorm with friends
If you have a friend or two who like to write as well, you can ask them for some help with ideas.

2.   Go to the internet
There is nothing wrong with Google-ing Story Ideas. I do it a lot. It can at least help get some ideas flowing.

3.   Look around you
Now I do this a lot. No matter where I am, I’ll look to see what’s around me and see if that sparks anything in my mind.

4.   Compile some ideas
Make a list of things you want to write about in your story. It could be a dumpster in an ally-way, a boy solving a Rubix Cube, whatever. It could help get some juices flowing in your brain.

5.    Ask someone.
Whether it be on here or Asianfanfics, I’m 99% sure if you asked someone for a little bit of help, they would. Everyone in the fanfiction world are family, whether you ship the same OTP or not.

If you ever need help with something writing related, you can message me here.

Okay, so you’ve got your general plot line, let me take a look.

Mhmm.

Okay.

Yepp.

Alright!

So your plot looks pretty good right now, but now it’s time for the next step.

The beginning, the middle, and the end.

Now let’s look back at our plot diagram.

The beginning would be like the exposition (1) and the initial incident (2),

the middle would be like the climax (4),
and the end would be, well, the end.

Having a general idea of what you want to happen at these points of the story would be really helpful while you’re writing.

How do you want your characters to be introduced?
What is actually the climax in my story?
How will it be resolved?

Now from here on, the story is your own. I can't tell you how to write your story or how your plot should turn out, but I can give you tips if you want.

My next lesson will be on characters and developing them.

Don't forget to comment.

I really like your way of executing your lessons! I also have a really amazing English teacher that gave me the knowledge to write my own fanfiction, poetry, and essays. I found this helpful as well! By the way, congratulations on your feature!

WinnieStar  on says about chapter 6:
okay, this helps but one thing that also make a good story is to make sure it makes sense, not the plot line and stuff but the sentences and grammar. you should post something about it because some forget to edit their chapter or something. :) sorry if this sounds forcing you to write something about this.....

WinnieStar  on says about chapter 5:
