Chapter 10

I woke up with the alarm clock bugging the heck out of me. Does it not know how to be quiet when someone is sleeping?! Well, I guess that's what alarm clocks are for.

It was the first day of school. Oh joy, time to interact with humans! And I can't suck the blood out of the ones that annoy me...yipee...

I cleaned up and got dressed for school. I went down from my apartment and Ren was already there.

"Yo." He nodded his head, signaling that he had seen me.

Too tired to talk, I nodded back and let him drag me to the auditorium. I nudged him, "I thought we were going to school?" 

He nodded but kept on walking. From around me, I could see people coming from all directions, heading towards the same destination. "There's orientation first." He explained.

My mouth formed an "o" shape. I had never been to an orientation before. Heck, I'd never attended school! The last time I went was maybe...a couple centuries ago? Eh, who cares? No one was going to ask me about my background, were they? Besides, Ryan should have had everything covered before he...yeah...died.

In the large auditorium, everyone took a seat. Ren and I took a seat on the very side. It was close to empty. The principal, a plump old man that was balding, tapped the mircrophone. Everyone got quiet and teachers watched for students that were talking or being obnoxious.

I wasn't even paying attention, to be honest. I think I even fell asleep until Ren elbowed me. The principal fixed his red tie and spoke, "Now we will be recognizing students that did especially well last year, star athletes, and new students that impressed us with high test scores."

He cleared his throat and began. I started to doze off again and when Ren elbowed me, I heard the principal call out, "Charlotte Brown, and Alexa Castaneda." At Charlotte's name, she stood up and waved to students with a smile. Kyle even hugged her and kissed her. I raised your eyebrows and turned away in disgust. Ewww PDA*.

Then the orientation - of which I had missed most of - was over and Ren dragged me off to our first class. I don't even know which class it was.
