DAY 3: "Past/Future" | (Pre-Canon, Pre-Relationship)

Before the Killing Game...


Makoto looked around him. It was how it usually was in class—Kyoko and Kiyotaka were the only ones really paying attention to the teacher, Toko was trying to get Byakuya to notice her, Yasuhiro had fallen asleep.
The brunette turned his attention back to the teacher, but not before noticing Kyoko looking back at him.

It was after class, and the Ultimate Lucky Student found himself being approached by his one and only, lavender-haired classmate as he left the class. He acknowledged her with a casual, "Oh, hello, Kirigiri-san," which really didn't match his emotions since his classmate (and crush) he'd hardly ever interacted with was talking to him.

"No need to be so formal. We're equals here, after all," Kyoko said, her tone dismissive. Makoto didn't point out that he wasn't exactly as special as others due to his lack of an actual talent and instead just nodded.

"Was there something you... wanted to talk about?" he inquired.

"Not really anything in specific, no," replied the detective. She flipped her hair back over her shoulders. "I just came to the realization that we'd never really had the opportunity to talk one-on-one before. From what I've heard from Hagakure and Asahina, you're rather good company." The last part was added on much quieter. If Makoto heard, he didn't acknowledge it.

"Oh, well, I guess you're right." He laughed to himself.

"...Yes. Well, the middle of the school hallway is certainly not the best place to chat, so perhaps you'd like to come and have some tea with me? I know a café nearby that's rarely busy," she offered.

"Uh..." Makoto blinked. He tried not to overthink it. Poor, lovesick Makoto.
"Sure."
