It was a beautiful afternoon, and it was a Saturday, meaning the students were free from their schoolwork today. It wasn't too cold, yet not too warm either; it was the perfect weather.
Some members of Class 78 decided to meet up in the park—specifically, a group consisting of Makoto, Kyoko, Aoi, Byakuya, Toko, and Yasuhiro. Chihiro was going to come with them as well, but had canceled those plans when Mondo had called him over to watch a movie with him and Kiyotaka.
So, it was just the group of six at the park today.
Yasuhiro had obviously expected it to be colder, if the thick coat he wore over his usual garments was any indication. But, that's the magic of layers: you can remove them if you get too warm. That's how Aoi put it, at least.
(Nobody heard Yasuhiro saying something about ogres being like onions under his breathe.)
Aforementioned swimmer was much better dressed, wearing a faded pair of blue jeans paired with a T-shirt for some British band she liked, the casual look completed by her black sweater that was just thick enough but not too much so, and a pair of matching black sneakers. It was warm enough that she wouldn't get a chill, but it certainly wasn't hot either.
Toko wore her usual clothes, seemingly not caring whether or not they were appropriate for the weather. Byakuya wasn't much different, though he at least brought a sweater with him.
Makoto was wearing a pair of simple, black sweatpants, a rather loose-fitting sweatshirt, and a pair of lack Converse high-tops with light gray laces. Toko would have made a remark about his all-black outfit if she wasn't terrified that Byakuya and Kyoko would beat her to death if she insulted the lucky student. Yes, that was an exaggeration, but this is Toko Fukawa we're talking about.
Makoto sat on one of the park benches, the detective and affluent prodigy sitting on either side of him.
Kyoko—who was dressed in some rather formal attire for such a casual outing—was the first to speak, commenting on how brightly colored some of the leaves were, compared to how dried-up some of the other, fallen leaves had become already. Makoto made some form of verbal agreement, resting his head on the detective's shoulder. His opposite right found Byakuya's left, and their fingers intertwined. They sat there like that for a while, just enjoying each other's company.
