The time that the seniors had been waiting was finally there. Graduation Day! All of the senior were dressed up in their graduation uniform. Chairs been arranged in orders, the stage decorated with flowers and what else? Their parents had come as well.
Alana could heard her heart beat pumped in anxious while waiting for her time to make a speech. For such an excellent student, she had been given an opportunity to do much more. There's no doubt for her to not to expect something like this. She fiddled her fingers together in a circle.
Tick, tock, tick, tock!
"Ms Alana Cooper." Finally, she thought. This would be her first and last speech on the stage. She took a timid step everytime she walked towards the mic. Her fingers wrapped itself around the mic stand. She breathed in fresh air as she calmed down.
"Good morning to the audiences, teachers and my friends..." Her eyes lingered around the hall. She caught Zoe smiled at her direction, Krystal pumped her fist as an encouragement and Kai was looking at her in a way as if she's the prettiest girl in the world. Alana felt her self-esteem aroused.
"Ever since I stepped in to this school, I had never imagined myself as one of the excellent student. I was just another girl too. I'm loud at times, crazy and sometimes the teachers might need to shut me up." Ms Margaret threw her a grateful smiled. Alana smiled back in return.
"I wanted to share the moments I had, but sadly it would take a longer time for me to do so. I came from a simple family. My parents died when I was younger, and I lived with my grandma. Which had just passed away a month ago," Alana gulped down her bitter thoughts. She ached to see her grandma as one of the audience.
"But that doesn't meant I can't success. It doesn't means I can't be a better person. It takes all of the commitment you have to give to be so, it's not necessary the amount of money you have. I admitted it, I myself is penniless. Well, the only thing I have leave was some amount of dollars in my account. But I struggled to make a living, to change my living to become better. I won't asked for more. It's all thanks to the teachers who gave us all a lot of knowledge, taught us till their last drop of sweat. To my grandma who send me to school since I was younger, friends; who gave me encouraged and mostly that I'm yours' all favourite," she grinned at her group of classmates. Her eyes darted to that one person, who had watched her all this time.
"And to that particular person, who ruined my life. Still, thank you." her eyes twinkled in delight as she darted her eyes around. Alana felt relieved after she expressed her speech. The graduation ceremony was then took more than two hours just for those bored speech.
Then, once it ended, the students get together as they searched for each of their friends. Even the pairs of couples find their partner again.
Thirteen red roses popped out of nowhere in front of her face. Alan was slightly taken aback. She blinked as the scent of red roses poked her nose. "Congratulation on your graduation." The giver lowered the flowers. Alana recognized him so well.
Her secret admire. Kai Danny Lee, the slightly tanned skin and tall guy. He's beautiful in a very perfect way. "Thank you," Alana took the flowers. She thought Kai as a very modest person.
"Sorry, I didn't prepare anything for you." She meekly bit her lips. Kai beamed, "No worries. You don't have to."
There was a slight awkward between them. Alana chortled. "This is funny."
He shrugged good-naturely as he patted her head. Alana abruptly stopped. All these patting thingy made her reminded of someone. Willy. She contemplated. Kai excused himself as he went off to his friends.
Alana was then approached by her friends. Kyle had a teddy bear for her, Zoe gave her chocolates, Krystal gave her a heart-warmed hugs and a NBA shirt for women. Alana laughed at his attempt. He was trying to make her into a NBA's fans too.
From a far, Willy saw her. Since the time she got out from the graduation hall, Kai's gave her roses to the end. He watched everything. He could do nothing. But he'd surely prepared something for her. The thing was, he couldn't even find any time to give her the gift.
The girls were busy giving him all the gifts that he'd mostly would just throw away. It's not like he would care about it. Willy just didn't find it necessary unless they give him car or camera, well, of course he would take it. Josh and Zach were as well enjoying his gifts. What else could he says.
Out of the blue, Cara came to him. "Hi, Willy." She beamed. Cara had tied her hair in fishtail braid and even put some blusher on her cheeks. No offense, but she looks so much better without the blusher thing. Cara had bought him a branded backpack.
"Hi," he greeted back. This might be our last encounter, he thought. The last thing that he wants was to get out from all the high school problems. He's tired with all the studying. But then, there's a thing he loves about high school and that should be Alana.
Cara held out a gift for him. "This is sincerely for you, Willy." Willy took it as a good manner. He threw her a grateful smile while he peek it around as if he was interested in it. "Congratulation on your graduation, Cara" He said. That was the least he could do.
Of course, Cara was more than excited to hear her name being called by the guy that she worship. The guys she had like for whole her high school lifetime. She felt like on cloud nine. Cara walked off leaving his place as she swooned in excitement.
The students eventually took pictures together to commemorate the high school memories. Cameras flashed everywhere. Some even brought a photoghrapher along. Alana stood with her friends as they took pictures together. Then Raven suggested an idea.
"Hey, where's the others? We should call all of our classmate," Raven said as she looked around for the others. Alana too called after their other classmate. Willy was dragged by Hannah. He stood uncertainly between Hannah and Cara. However, Willy wanted to stand somewhere else. Somewhere closer to his... wife.
Alana have Ryan by her left side and Raven by her right side. Since Krystal is slightly taller, she stood behind her with Kyle. They were like bff. Willy grew envy of their relationship. Kyle who was conscious of Willy's stared, he nodded at him. "What are you waiting for? Come here," He mouthed at Willy.
Willy took it as an invitation. Regardless of Cara who had posed, Willy simply walked over to the opposite direction. HE stood exactly right behind Alana.
"Ready, one, two, three- cheesestick!" A friend of Ryan shouted as he took their pictures. After a few more shots, they were finally finished.
When it was time to go home, everyone bid goodbye to each other. Mostly the girls even shed tears as if they won't even meet each other again. Like that was their last reunion. Well, except Raven, of course that's their last reunion. Raven is going to leave the small town and was going to live to the main town. Unlike the others, Raven can have everything she wants because she's quite demanding in a good way. She have her own way to be accurate.
Willy and Alana had planned to walk back home because it's a way for Alana to comemmorate the last high school day. She had waited forever for that day to come. Alana even planned how it would went on although there were a slightly changed of plan.
The two of them walked side by side as they passed each houses and buildings. Alana felt at eased. She finally can get off from all the homework, exams and assignment for a while. After all these years, she graduated from school.
Alana prepared something big ahead of hers. Something impossible for herself to avoid. A small sighed emitted from her pinkish lips. "Alana..." Willy finally called after her.
Alana paused in her track as she turned around. She looked at him. Willy realized, after all this time, there's finally a difference in her gazed. "I actually prepared something for you," He hesitated as he rubbed at the back of his neck awkwardly. It's a habit he would usually did whenever he's unsure of something.
She blinked, "For me?" Willy pulled his hands down as one of his hand slipped in to the pocket of his trousers, "Yeah. Here." A turquoise box with Tiffany & Co written on it. Whatelse to expect? Of course it's something to do with accessories. Her eyes shifted from him to the box in his palm.
Slowly, he took her hand as he settled the box in her palm. Alana examined his movement. Her heart was beating so fast, strangely. "Open it." Willy nodded at the box as he threw his full teeth smiled.
She was too dazed to even realized what should be inside the box. Alana pulled the ribbon off as she carefully lifted the upper box. Laid in the box, a beautiful bracelet settled right in the middle of a wait silk cloth.
"Go on," he encouraged her to figure out more. Her eyes twinkling as she took the bracelet with her slender fingers. "This is beautiful," She said in dazed. It was too much for her. This item for sure cost more than a leg.
"Wait," she halted. "I can't take this. It's freaking expensive." Alana put the bracelet back into the box. A frowned formed in between his two eyebrows. For Willy, it was nothing because it's affordable for him but not for Alana. He wanted to stop her but she had already held it out to him.
He took the box but then he reopened it. Willy took out the bracelet with a love pendant. A moment later, he took her left wrist as he clasped the bracelet around her wrist. "But..." She uttered but nothing came out. Now, she really can't push him away. The bracelet looked perfect on her.
"Please, don't take it off." He pleaded. Alana gazed deeply in the lad eyes. He looked more than sincere. Alana could clearly hear his anxiety.
Out of blue, Alana hugged him. "Thank you, Willy" She said. Beyond shocked, Willy was too speechless to say a thing or even to react. He mentally knocked his head. It's a golden timing for him to get her heart!
Alana giggled when she heard how fast was his heart beat. She can't help but find it cute. Lightly, Alana planted a chaste kiss. Willy was really taken aback this time. He didn't even blink an eye. The only thing he did was stared at her in slightly confusion crossed his face. Alana shrugged. "I heart it was beating crazily. So, I give it medicine.
Willy gaped at her. Somehow, he's blushing. He could've sworn that she's far from the Alana he know.
She's insane. He thought as she resumed walked back home.
