Do You Mind My Company?

I got more nervous as got closer to our arrival at  the party.

The corset was really tight, I could hardly breathe, and the dress was too frilly.  

“Madam, can I see you’re invitation letter?”

“Eh?.. Ah yes..”

I reached him my invitation.

He nodded and gave back the invitation letter, I was could pass into the residence.

There were already a lot of people inside, it made me even more nervous than I already was.

“Hello there.”, a very elegant lady greeted me with a smile.

“…Good evening” ,I said shyly.

“I am Lady Williams, what is your name?”, she said with a smile.

“ I am… Eda Alden ,nice to meet you.”

“Oh you are Duke Alden’s daughter then! It’s a pleasure to meet you. You are truly a beauty.” 

I blushed by hearing that, out of embarrassment and also because nobody had ever complimented me.

“T-thank you.”

“ Ah, I am sorry, I still need to meet with others who just came in, oh by the way I think you would have a lot of chances with the Crown Prince. He is here tonight. I don’t think he is going to let a beautiful and gentle girl like you pass him unnoticed.”, Lady Williams said with a wink.

I didn’t know what I had to think of that. I’d rather be unnoticed until the end of the party.

I looked around , and I saw a crowd of girls standing  on the right of the ball room.

“ That must be the place where prince Kaelen is standing, best to avoid that place.”

I spotted that the way to the balcony was open. “Yes , my safe place.”

I made my way to the balcony, but I didn’t know that the prince had spotted me a long time ago.

I was standing  there, looking to the moon, enjoying the fresh air when I saw someone standing at the other side, but it was too dark to recognize any facial characteristics.

“ Are you also running away from the crowd? Do you mind my company?”
