remarks ;
This book tells the life story of two of the Philippines' national heroes: Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio. The book was written to inform younger children about Philippine history and those who helped shape it. The author tries to convey how we as Filipinos should remember these people who fought for our freedom. What I like about this book is that it tells both of the stories in a parallel way and connects them seamlessly. Children who are in the fourth grade and above will most likely appreciate the story book treatment of the informative text. The side by side illustrations and the Chua's use of the colors blue and red, worked well with the parallel narrative. In comparison to other biography books, this one is rather short and condensed through picture story book treatment.
