remarks ;

Casey at the Bat is a poem about a baseball game set in the fictional town of Mudville. Casey is the star player of the home team and everyone believed that the team would definitely win if Casey gets up to bat. But Casey was so confident of he skills that he didn't swing at the first two bats and then fails on the third one, making everyone go home disappointed. The poem was written for the newspaper The Examiner by Earnerst Lawrence Thayer under the pen name "Phin" but was republished later in The New York Sun under the name Anon. It is shared in baseball-almanac.com and was dubbed as the single most famous baseball poem ever written. I believe that that this poem would greatly appeal to young boys from ages ten to fourteen because of the length and choice of words. What is noteworthy about this poem is that although it was published in a newspaper intended for older readers, children can also relate to it and enjoy it. Although it didn't garner much attention immediately, the poem later on was subject to sequels, parodies and many other adaptations.
